All I Need

In the beginning of Psalms 23 it says the Lord is my Shepherd, I lack nothing.  Ever since I was a young boy of 10 Jesus has been my Shepherd.  I have always strived to make Him the Lord of my life (Romans 10:9) by asking Him to guide each of my footsteps (Psalms 119:33).  The broad path that leads to destruction (Matthew 7:13-14) is one that is filled with millions of choices.  Being created in the image of God (Genesis 1:27) is an amazing blessing that comes with great responsibilities.  While I inherit my freedom to choose from God this does not mean that all choices available to me are beneficial – especially in getting me closer to God (1 Corinthians 10:23).  I love the word of God for it clearly teaches the correct path to walk on in life.  While the number of commands in Scripture might be overwhelming in their entirety, they are not a burden to me because everyone born of God has already overcome the world and all of its bad choices (1 John 5:2-23).

I also love where David states that he lacks nothing in the presence of the Shepherd.  In Psalms 16 David states the following:

Lord, you alone are my portion and my cup; you make my lot secure.

While I may not be a millionaire or even have the money to travel the world … all I really want or need is God!  I chose to not chase after the possessions of this world that are here today and gone Tomorrow (Matthew 6:19-21) but instead my heart chases after the one who made me and continues to mold me more like Him everyday.  Even though I dimly see a reflection of His glory (1 Corinthians 13:12) now I look forward to the day when I meet my Jesus face to face!
